"Gardienne"
CHF 400.–

A work composed of ceramic and leather sewn together. Some pieces are in stoneware, others in porcelain and wood. The ceramic pieces are round and flat, of different sizes and colors, with a seam in the middle. The leather pieces are die-cut shapes that make up the pattern of a leather bag, cut from offcuts. This main structure is crowned by a half-circle piece, from either end of which hang what the artist calls: earrings. An attribute dear to her, as in her childhood the artist dreamed of having some. This almost feminine figure refers to the reassuring presence of the father figure: my father used to sew leather in my room at night, creating an atmosphere of security. The name "Gardiennes" (Guardians) reflects this idea of protection and happiness.
